The Consular Wing of the Consulate General of India, Erbil is located at 1010, Dream City, Erbil, Kurdistan (Iraq).

INFORMATION FOR VISA APPLICANTS

Consulate General of India, Erbil issues Tourist, Business, Employment, Student, Medical and other types of visas to applicants who are resident of Iraq [Kurdistan Region and Nineveh Province]. Processing of Student & Business Visa applications may take 10-15 working days.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR FILLING ONLINE APPLICATION

Applications are required to be filled-in online under ‘Regular Visa Application’ at https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/visa/index.html using ‘Internet Explorer’ or ‘Google Chrome’. The applicant must select the Indian Mission: Iraq-Erbil before filling the Visa application. Applications made on other Indian Missions/Posts are not good for applying in Erbil.  The application number must have the barcode starting with IRQE.

NOTE :

1. If you face any issue related to security certificate with browsers, you can INSTALL SECURITY CERTIFICATE.
2. Please select Indian Mission : IRAQ-ERBIL

3. Please note down the Temporary Application ID: (Your Information will be saved if you click save button or continue to next page. If you exit without doing either of that, your information will be lost. Minimum field required for partial save is up to Date of Birth).
4. Please fill in all the particulars including permanent and current address, e-mail Id, mobile and phone nos. correctly. Also please mention the name and phone of references/contacts correctly. Applications without complete details are liable to be rejected.
5. Please upload your recent colour photograph (2 inches X 2 inches taken in light background).
6. Please take a print of the application after completing and submitting online and sign it in ink under the photograph and at the end of the application on page 2.

After applying online, the applicant is requested to present the signed print-out of the online- filled application form along with all required documentation at the Consulate General of India, Erbil [1010, Dream City] on any working day between 0930hrs to 1200hrs for Visa. There is no need for taking prior appointment for submission of applications. Applicants are attended to on-first- come-first- serve basis. The applicant has to apply in person as the applicant’s biometric features (fingerprints and photographs of iris) will be required to be taken in the Consulate for processing the application. All original documents are required to be kept ready for verification during submission of Visa application. These will be returned after verification.

Diplomatic, Official or Service, UN and Ordinary Passport-holders requiring Indian visa also should submit their application directly to Consular Wing between 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM along with necessary documents.

Documents required for processing Tourist Visa applications

1) One printed copy of the online visa application form with a recent photograph (2 inches X 2 inches - White background. The applicant must sign in the column under the photograph and on the last page.
2) Original passport with at least two blank pages and minimum 6 months validity from the proposed date of entry in India.
3) Copy of profile page of passport. If applicant is holding dual nationality, copy of profile page of both passports.
4) Copy of Iraqi national ID.  Non Iraqi passport holders need to provide a copy of their recent Iraq visa/visa extension page. 
5) Confirmed return tickets.
6) Proof of availability of funds/bank statement for the duration of stay in India.
7) Applicants who are not resident in Iraq are required to fill in the PERSONAL PARTICULARS FORM available at the end of these instructions in addition to the Visa application form.

NOTE: Tourist Visa is non-extendable, non-convertible and there should be a gap of 2 months between two successive visits to India for the nationals of Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, Sudan, foreigners of Pakistani origin and Stateless persons.

ADDITIONAL VISA REQUIREMENTS

MEDICAL VISA

Medical Visa is issued for the purpose of seeking medical treatment in recognized/specialized treatment centers in India. Medical documents establishing the need for medical treatment in India along with the acceptance of treatment from a recognized medical institution in India are necessary to consider grant of Medical Visa. Proof of availability of sufficient funds for the treatment and duration of stay is also essential. Applications not supported by these documents will be rejected.

Additional documents to be submitted along with Medical Visa application 1. Offer of treatment from recognized Hospital in India.
2. Recommendation letter from treating Doctor from Iraq to undergo treatment in India.
3. Proof of financial standing/availability of money to spend during the stay in India.
Time required for processing Minimum one working day.
MEDICAL ATTENDANT VISA Medical Attendant visa is issued to family members/attendants of patients(Maximum 2 persons) who are granted Medical visa to undergo treatment in India.

STUDENT & RESEARCH VISA

Student Visa is issued for pursuing regular and full time academic studies in India. No other activities like business, employment, etc., are permitted. It is normally issued for the duration of the course of study. The applicant should submit proof of admission to a recognized educational institution in India along with documents certifying recognition of the Educational institution in India by concerned Government agency.

Foreigners who intend to study Yoga should apply for Student Visa. The Yoga institution should be recognized by Ministry of Home affairs, Govt. of India, for admitting foreign students.

Additional documents to be submitted along with Student Visa application Letter of admission from recognized Indian institution where admission has been secured.

Qualifying examination mark sheet from the Iraqi University

Letter from parents regarding financial support along with his/her Iraqi ID copy and/or Bank Statement.

Approval from Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India stating that the institution is recognized for admitting foreign students for study of yoga, Vedic culture/Indian system of dance/music

Proof of funds to support the applicant’s stay and expenses in India for the duration of the course.
NOTE Students are required to register with the nearest Foreigners Regional Registration Officer (FRRO) within 14 days of arrival in India.
Remarks Applicants must ensure that admission is sought in institutions affiliated to recognized boards /universities. Visa may take more than one month and therefore application for Visa must be submitted sufficiently well in advance before commencement of the course in India. Students who are already studying in India should produce the following documents along with their visa application:

1. Bonafide student certificate from the college/university.

2. Copy of residential permit/exit permit/Re-entry Visa issued by FRRO

BUSINESS VISA

Business visas are normally issued to those applicants who intend to go to India for genuine business purposes. A letter each from the local employer and the sponsoring company in India stating the purpose of visit, places & organizations to be visited and duration of visit is required to be submitted along with the Visa application. The invitation letter should contain the full name, address, telephone & mobile number and e-mail of the authorized signatory. Copy of Iraq Business Registration is also required.

Additional documents required for Business Visa Recommendation Letter from the Iraqi company clearly mentioning the profile of the company and complete details of the profile & passport of the applicant. It should mention exact purpose of visit(s) and dates/durations of the same for multiple visas.

Invitation letter from Indian company stating purpose of visit (s), duration of visit.

A copy of the Iraq Business Registration certificate.

Letter of recommendation from the local Chamber of Commerce/ Federation of Chamber of Commerce.

EMPLOYMENT VISA

Employment visa is issued to Executive Posts and highly skilled and qualified professionals who are taking up assignment/employment with reputed Indian companies or parent/subsidiary companies registered in India. An authenticated copy of the Employment contract and proof of registration of the employing organization are to be furnished. Employment visa is granted for the duration of the employment contract up to two years.

Additional documents to be submitted along with Employment Visa application 1. Offer of appointment from the applicant’s company clearly mentioning the profile of the company and complete details of the profile & passport of the applicant.

2. Copy of Contract showing terms and conditions, including nature of job, details of emoluments, tax related issues signed by both employer and prospective employee

3. Letter from Indian Company stating why they are unable to recruit the post from India.

4. Copies of documents relating to company's incorporation in India

5. Recommendation from Iraqi company in case of transfer/secondment.

6. Resume/C.V showing qualification and work experience of the applicant.
NOTE Employment Visa holders are required to register with the Foreigners Regional Registration Officer (FRRO) within 14 days of arrival in India.
Remarks Entry Visa may be issued to the applicant's dependent family members on production of proof of their relationship (i.e. marriage certificate in case of spouse and birth certificate in case of children).

CONFERENCE VISA

Conference Visa is granted for the duration of the conference to those who are going to India for attending an international conference/seminar/workshop. A copy of the letter of invitation from the organizer is required. Prior Clearance from the Ministry of Home Affairs and political clearance from the Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. of India to be provided by the organizer are required for foreigners participating in conferences/seminars/workshops, etc if they are from Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, Sudan, foreigners of Pakistani origin and Stateless persons.

Additional documents to be submitted along with Conference Visa application Letter of invitation from the conference organizers indicating the nature of conference.

Clearances from Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. of India in case of nationals from Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, Sudan, foreigners of Pakistani origin and Stateless persons.

JOURNALIST VISA

Journalist Visa is issued to professional journalists, photographers, film producers/directors (other than commercial films), representatives of radio or television channels, travel writers/photographers, etc. travelling to India. A correspondent, columnist, cartoonist, editor or professional journalist working for an association/company engaged in production or broadcast of audio news or audio visual news or current affairs programme through print media, electronic or any other form should apply for Journalist Visa for travel to India. Journalists visiting India for any other purpose like tourism should also apply for Journalist Visa.

Additional documents to be submitted along with Journalist Visa application Declaration in respect of photography equipment being carried, if any.

Declaration in respect of engaging an Indian liaison officer (wherever applicable).

Journalists, editors, writers, publishers, etc. who are visiting India for purposes like tourism are requested to provide an undertaking that they would not engage in any journalistic or reporting activities during/after their trip

TRANSIT VISA

Transit visas are issued for transiting through India. It is valid for 15 days from the date of issue of the Visa. Applicant is permitted to stay for only 72 hrs in transit. Transit Visas can't be obtained from immigration counters at ports of entry in India. Confirmed onward travel to a destination outside India is required.

Passengers having a connecting flight for onward journey and who do not intend to leave the airport or pass through the Immigration do not need a Transit Visa.

Additional documents to be submitted along with Transit Visa application form 1. Copy of confirmed tickets of onward journey from India.

2. For Seamen - Recommendation and invitation letters from the shipping companies in Baghdad/India stating details of 'joining' the concerned vessel.

ENTRY VISA FOR PERSONS OF INDIAN ORIGIN

Foreign nationals of Indian origin are eligible for Entry Visa which may be granted for a period of six months to five years depending on the purpose and the status of the applicant. Continuous stay beyond six months (180 days) require registration of himself/herself with the nearest Foreigner Regional Registration Office (FRRO) within two weeks of arrival in India.

Additional documents to be submitted along with Visa application 1. Copy of the previous expired/canceled Indian Passport and Surrender Certificate or Deemed Surrender Certificate. If the applicant had never held Indian passport, copy of last held Indian passport and surrender/deemed surrender certificate of parents or OCI/PIO card of parents along with birth certificate of applicant is required.
2. Registration/Naturalization certificate of current nationality.
Foreigners who are married to Indian Nationals are required to submit copy of Indian Passport of spouse along with a copy of marriage certificate
Remarks Indians who have acquired foreign nationality must surrender their Indian passports and obtain Surrender Certificate/Deemed Surrender Certificate from the Passport Section of Embassy of India, Baghdad

ENTRY VISA FOR SPORTS PERSONS

All Sports persons going to India for participation in international sporting events are required to apply for Entry Visa. Visa will be issued for the duration of sporting event. Officials/Coaches/Trainers etc. accompanying the players will also need to apply for Entry Visa. It may, however, be noted that a copy of the clearance granted by Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports of Government of India for holding the International Event needs to be submitted with the Visa application.

Documents to be submitted along with Visa application form 1. Invitation from Concerned Sports Association/Authority in India

2. Recommendation letter from Concerned Sports Association in Iraq

3. Approval from the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports of Government of India.

NOTE :

1. Visa is not a right and it can be denied without assigning any reason. All Visas are valid from Date of Issue, not from date of arrival in India.

Visa fee is processing charges. It cannot be refunded under any circumstances, whether Visa is denied or granted for a shorter period than applied for. Once Visa is granted, it cannot be changed or amended.

Acceptance of Visa application does not automatically guarantee grant of a Visa.

Applicants must exit India before the date of expiry mentioned on the visa.

2. Some fake websites are reported to be duping those who seek Visa for India. Therefore, it is requested that all visa, passport, consular and other services seekers should exercise utmost caution while accessing the websites for such services. The only websites under the purview of this Consulate is http://www.cgierbil.gov.in

3. Please retain your original receipts and produce the same for return of passports. All travelers to India, especially long term, are advised to check the latest immigration and entry regulations before travel.

4. PAKISTANI NATIONALS AND PERSONS OF PAKISTANI ORIGIN

The following additional documents are required form Pakistani Nationals
(1) SPONSORSHIP CERTIFICATE is required for Visitor Visa by Pakistani Nationals
(2) ADDITIONAL FORM to be submitted by Pakistani Nationals and Persons of Pakistani origin

5. USE OF SATELLITE PHONE IN INDIA

The use/operation of any satellite phones/devices including wireless in India is regulated by the Government. As per the existing guidelines issued by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Government of India, Inmarsat Sat phones excluding BGAN system can be used only with prior permission from DoT. ThurayaSatphone service is not permitted in India. Anyone using any telegraphic devices including Sat phone unauthorisedly is punishable.

6. SURROGACY

Any person seeking a visa to India for the purpose of entering into a surrogacy arrangement must ascertain beforehand whether the law of that country permits surrogacy and will provide appropriate travel documents to the child for accompanying the surrogate parents. Entering into surrogacy arrangements under any other visa not sought for surrogacy is punishable under Indian law.
